Obituary of Mary Lola Bishop
BISHOP - Mary passed away peacefully Saturday September 25th at St Joseph Hospice in Sarnia. Mary was born in Chatham, ON to Frank and Lulu Moore. She is survived by her sisters, Judy (Alfons) Vancoillie, Vivian Moore, Margaret (Jim) Hahn, Midge (Doug) Raymond and a brother Don. Predeceased by a brother George and a sister Doris. Mary was the wife of the late William Bishop and mother to David (Jan) Bishop of Bright's Grove and Charles (Audrey) Bishop of Guelph. Survived and cherished by grandchildren Terri (Chad) Barrette, Tiffany (Ron) Gorry, Megan, Stephen, Carissa, Hannah, Mark, Shannon, Janelle, Kyle and Austin. Mary was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren, Madeleine, Matthew, Adam and Jessica. Mary was educated in Wallaceburg and worked at many jobs including the Glass Factory and The Alexander Theatre. Most notable was the "Rose Tea Room" in Sombra which Mary and her husband Bill operated for 13 years. She was actively involved with "Meals on Wheels" in Port Lambton, a member of the IODE in Sombra and an active hockey mom. Mary could always be counted on to help the many volunteer groups throughout the community. She enjoyed her retirement at Fairwinds Lodge in Sarnia where she was active with the "Red Hats" group and participated daily in Cribbage, Bingo, Bowling and Bridge. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Tuesday from 10 – 11:30 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel on Tuesday at 11:30 and will be officiated by Angela MacDonald. A tree will be planted in memory of Mary Lola Bishop in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest. Dedication service Sunday, September 18th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area.
