Obituary of William John Smith Owens

OWENS, William John Smith “Bill”– At Bluewater Health, Palliative Care on Sunday, August 12, 2012, Bill died peacefully with his family by his side, at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Bessie (2009) for 63 years. Loving father of William Owens, John Owens and his wife Bonnie, Strathroy, Marsha Shepherd and her husband Tony, Sarnia, and Steven Owens and his wife Donna, Trenton. Proud Grandfather of Donna, Perry, Bill, Tammy, Jonathan (Christina), Jeffrey, Jeremy (Shannon), Lisa (Greg), Brett, Shae Lynn, Veronica, Anthony and Stephanie; and Great-Grandfather of Perry, Thomas, Austin, Matthew, Joshua, Kyle and Zachary. Dear brother of Peggy Gough (the late John), Doreen Montgomery (the late Eugene), Elsie (Clint) and Marg Owens; and brother-in-law of Beatrice Jones and William (Donalda) Reeves.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Elsie, brother Norman Owens and sister-in-law Alice (Russell) Collins. Bill was a soldier with the Royal Canadian Army for 32 years. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Friday, August 17 from 12-2 p.m. Immediately following the visitation, a celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 2 p.m. with The Rev. David Hewitt officiating.
