Obituary of Irene Marie Melanson
MELANSON, Irene – Peacefully surrounded by her family at Bluewater Health – Palliative Care on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late Paul (1991). Dear mother of Rosemarie Dunn & the late Richard, Sarnia, Francine Laur & her husband Gary, Courtright, David Melanson & his wife Dr. Christine Frank, Barrie, Lauretta Read & her husband Stephen, Sarnia, Anne Woolvett & Mike Callfas, Sarnia and Claire Sitzes & her husband David, Waterloo. Loving grandmother of Michelle Heaven & her husband Richard, Langley, B.C., Nicole Fisher & her husband Benjamin, London, Jeremy Vandenberghe, Sarnia, Kevin Vandenberghe, London, Stephanie Bramread & her husband Alex, Sarnia, Emma Read, Sarnia, Steven Woolvett, Sarnia, Celine Woolvett, Sarnia, William Sitzes, Waterloo and Kristian Sitzes, Waterloo. Great-grandmother of Scarlett and Teagan Heaven and Maddox and Mason Fisher. Sister of Raymond & Marie Melanson, Sarnia, Paul & Jean Melanson, Blenheim, Jeannette & Ronald Cormier, Lady Lake, Florida and Lorette & Aurele Lavigne, Moncton, NB. Predeceased by infant son Jean-Paul, parents Zenon & Emma Melanson, sisters Lena Luedee and Doris Lalonde and sons-in-law Donald Vandenberghe and Donald Woolvett. Irene was lifetime member of the O.L.M. Catholic Women’s League. She worked for many years at Buck’s Variety on Maxwell St. and was fondly referred to as “Mom” by the neighbourhood children. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jim Higgins at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Irene expressed her concern for the less fortunate daily, especially, that they would have a warm bed to sleep in. Therefore, as an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Inn of the Good Shepherd – Good Shepherd’s Lodge, 115 John St., Sarnia, N7T 2R1.
