Obituary of Pietro Fais

FAIS, Pietro (Peter) – Surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness, Pietro passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Ida. Dear father of Toni McGuiness, Dora & her husband Rick Quinn, Diane & her husband Giovanni Cossa and Tony Fais. Loving grandfather of Luigina & her husband Andrew McCarthy, Raymond Cossa, Peter and Dylan Fais. Brother of Antonica. Predeceased by brother Bartolo and sisters Demetria, Angela and Francesca. Pietro immigrated from Sardegna, Italy to Montreal in 1951 where he worked and owned a business until moving to Sarnia in 1967. Here in Sarnia he raised his family, where he worked in construction and owned several businesses, most recently Global Donuts, until retiring. Pietro was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), the Dante Club and the Circolo Sardo di Sarnia. Pietro was an avid poet. In his retirement, he worked diligently to complete a biographic poem of his favourite saint, Padre Pio. He was a beloved member of the community and will be fondly remembered by his many friends and family.  Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jim Higgins at St. Benedict’s Church on Monday at 11 a.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
