Obituary of Joyce Marie Inslee
INSLEE, Joyce Marie – Joyce said goodbye to this world on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Bluewater Health – Norman Site. Born December 1, 1927, she lived life to the fullest for 80 years. Dear sister of Jo An Groombridge and aunt of Gregory (Sabina), Brian (Kate), Matthew (Mary), Christopher (Sheila), and Andrew and also great aunt of Brendan, Lindsay, Devon, Zachary, Morgan, Rachael and Jack. Predeceased by her parents Horace and Lenore Inslee. Joyce graduated in 1950 from St. Joseph School of Nursing in London. She nursed for a short while at St. Joseph Hospital, Sarnia, in the OR, and at Deaconess Hospital in Detroit. Joyce then worked at Port Huron Hospital for 39 years as a respected and loved Registered Nurse and night supervisor. Joyce finished her career in 1989. Long after her retirement Joyce continued to enjoy contributing to the Port Huron Hospital staff Christmas party by acting as Mrs. Claus and attending retiree luncheons. Joyce was well known for spoiling others with candy, doughnuts and other treats. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Tom Lever at Sacred Heart Church (Lecaron & Charlesworth) at 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2008. Private interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Inn of the Good Shepherd, 115 John St., Sarnia, N7T 2R1 or St. Joseph’s Church, Building Fund, 1011 Oak Ave., Sarnia N7S 1J4. A tree will be planted in memory of Joyce Inslee in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest. Dedication service Sunday, September 21st, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area.
