VANDERAA, MARIA (MARY) – At Bluewater Health – Norman Site on Monday, December 15, 2008 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Jac. Dear mother of Jack (Debbie), Sarnia and Adrian, Port Huron. Loving grandmother (Oma) of Jac (Wendy) Vanderaa, Jennifer (Jeff) Leclair, Annmarie (Leo) Salvo, Jeff (Tracy) Astolfi, Mary (Greg) Engleson, Sonja Vanderaa and Rachel Vanderaa. Great-grandmother of Chantal, Samantha, Storm, Eve, Adrianna, Christina and Corsten. Sister of Jo Verbakel, Holland, Bill (Ann) Verbakel, Sarnia, Frans Verbakel, Holland, Pieter (Jean) Verbakel, Holland and Mien (Cor) Peters, Holland. Sister-in-law of Chris Heesakkers, Sarnia. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter Jeanny Astolfi, parents Johannus & Juli Adrianna Verbakel, brother Martin Verbakel and sisters Annie vandenHurk, Elizabeth (Betsy) deMan, Marjan Martins, Henrietta Raymakers, Leny Heesakkers. Mary was a member of the St. Benedict’s Church Catholic Women’s League and the Y.M.C.A. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Matthew Bedard at St. Benedict’s Church on Saturday at 12 noon followed by cremation. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the charity of your choice.
