Obituary of Thelma Marie L'Heureux

L'HEUREUX, THELMA MARIE (nee Hicks) - Surrounded by her family at Sumac Lodge, Sarnia on Monday, July 7th, 2014, Thelma Marie L'Heureux died peacefully at the age of 97. Beloved wife of the late Morris "Moe" L'Heureux (2005). Loving mother of Michael & his wife JoAnne, Athens, Ohio, Robert & his wife Mary Ellen, Bright's Grove, John & his wife Ann, Sarnia and Maurice & his wife Donalda, Bright's Grove. Much loved grandmother of Anne (Todd) Bean, Bill (Jennifer) L'Heureux, David (Lyndi) L'Heureux and Catherine L'Heureux, Athens, Ohio, Tim (Karen) L'Heureux, Rebecca (Doug) Tomback, Sarnia and Bradley (Danette) L'Heureux, Talbotville, Monica (Barry) Brown, Sarnia and Chris (Winona) L'Heureux, Toronto and Gennine and Alexandra L'Heureux, Bright's Grove. Proud great-grandmother of eleven. Dear sister-in-law of Bette Hicks, Chatham. Treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents William and Eva Hicks and brothers Edward, Leo and Fred Hicks. Thelma was a strong woman who spoke her mind yet always remained a lady. She spent countless hours at the rink watching and enjoying her own boys play hockey while never missing a Montreal Canadiens game or a Toronto Blue Jays game. She was a long time member of the Sarnia Golf and Curling club, played bridge, bowled and could bake an amazing rhubarb-apple pie. Thelma was also a woman of faith and was an active member of the CWL at both Our Lady of Mercy and Our Lady Queen of Peace Parishes. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia on Thursday 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Len Desjardins at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sarnia on Friday, July 11th at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
