Obituary of Gertrude Cain
CAIN, Mary Gertrude “Teddy” – Peacefully at Bluewater Health, Palliative Care, Sarnia on Sunday, February 24, 2008, aged 95. Predeceased by her parents Joseph Bernard and Margaret (Reagan) Cain and brothers Norman, Harry, Earl, Jack and her sister Margaret. Survived by her sister Catherine Brady of Petrolia; nephews Bernard (Beverley) Cain, their children Michael, Terry, Greg, Dan, Leslie Dell and Lisa Leaman (Bill), and their grandchildren Mitchell, William, Christine, Nichole, Terry Jr., Andrew, Isabella, Ashley, Brittany, Catlin, Johnathon and Celia; James (Barbara) Cain, their children Kelly and Patrick; Tim (Karen) Brady, their children Kristen (Jim) McLellan and Steven (Erin) Brady, their grandchildren Sarah and Josh; and Paul Brady, his children Shannon Brady, Julie (Jason) Campbell, and his grandchildren Nicholas and Allison Kate. Gertrude retired as a registered nursing assistant from Beck Memorial Sanitorium, London, Ontario in 1972. She compiled an extensive family tree tracing her heritage dating back to 1798 in Ireland. She loved travel, puzzles, watching baseball and attending the Royal Winter Fair. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, on Wednesday, February 27th from 9-10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church by Fr. Jim Higgins following the visitation at 10:30 a.m. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Lambton. A tree will be planted in memory of Gertrude Cain in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest. Dedication service Sunday, September 21st, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area.
