Obituary of Anthony Smits
SMITS, Antonius (Tony) – Peacefully at Bluewater Health Palliative Care on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Jean (2009). Loving father of John (Lori) Smits, Mary-Ann (Dennis) Thompson, Bernie Smits and Stefanie Smits (Joe Sylvester). Proud grandfather of Aaron, Adam, Alanna (Robert) Oravec, Andrew, Luke (Jenelle) and Amy Smits and Michelle (Jay), Amanda (Keith) and Derek Thompson (Brittany). Dear brother of Jos, Willy, Harold, Hanny and Stef. Predeceased by his parents Johannes & Petronella and a sister Gonny. Tony will also be missed by his little dogs Copper and Nuggett. Tony was the owner and operator of Tony’s Cycle World for 25 years. He was a founding and active member of the H.R.R.A. and active member of C.V.M.G. motorcycle clubs. Tony served with the Royal Airforce during W.W.II. Tony’s legacy will be his passion and knowledge of motorcycles which he shared with all who knew and loved him. Although his passion was motorcycles, Tony also had a love for airplanes. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431. N. Christina St., Sarnia on Wednesday April 1, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel on Thursday, April 2, at 1:30 p.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice, 475 N. Christina St., Sarnia, N7T 5W3.
