Obituary of Walter Andrew Hickey
HICKEY, Walter Andrew - (United Empire Loyalist, John Hickey, The Kings Royal Regiment of New York to Ingleside Ontario 1784). Beloved husband of Madeliene (Boucher) Hickey, Sarnia. Son of the late Walter J. Hickey and the late Eva M. Burt of Cornwall, ON. Loving father of Lynda (Gary) Pettit, Adele (Des) Morrow, Valerie Hickey, Carol (John) MacMillian, Walter J. (Tammy) Hickey, Richard (Anne) Boucher and Christopher (Amanda) Boucher. Cherished grandfather of Mark & Steven Pettit, Michael & David Levack, Stephane & Courtney MacMillian, Vicki, Jordon, Megan, Kendra, Joel, Jacob and Taylor Rilette, Austin Thompson, Melissa, Alicia, Jessica and Mark Boucher and Walter Boucher. Dear brother of David (Audrey) Hickey and Gordon (Merilyn) Hickey, Cornwall. Brother-in-law of Nancy and Grace Hickey. Predeceased by son Robert Boucher, sister May Fitzpatrick, brothers John and Elwin Hickey and brother-in-law Huey Fitzpatrick. Walter grew up in Cornwall, Ontario and after working on the construction of the Courtalds Plant in Cornwall he moved to Sarnia in 1949 and began work at Dow Chemical. He retired in 1986. Walter was a member of the Sertoma Club and worked diligently with the associations for the mentally handicapped to construct New Hope School. He was a kind and gentle man and will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 12:30-1:45 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel immediately following at 2 p.m. and will be officiated by the Rev. Deanna Gibson. Cremation to follow. Interment will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation, 714 London Rd., Sarnia, N7T 4Y1.
