Obituary of Gary Gerald Golob
“Therefore you too must stand ready for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (Matthew 24:44)
The Son of Man came suddenly for Gary Gerald Golob of Sarnia, who died sharing in the Lord’s Passion on Good Friday of a brain aneurysm (“O bleeding head so wounded”), at the age of 51. Survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 29 years, Judith (Thompson), his loving daughters and sons, Alissa, James, Helen, Stephen, Joseph, Patrick, Owen, Lucy and Mary. He is also survived by his mother, Majda and his brother, Dean. He will be greatly missed by Wayne (Rosborough). Predeceased by his father, Eric, his niece, Kristin (Golob), nephew, Matthew (Dzisiak), brother-in-law, Ken (Borris) and parents-in-law, Joseph and Helen Thompson. He will be greatly missed by his large extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, 42 nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and nephews. Gary’s gift of love, faith and dedication made him more than equal to the joyful task of caring for his 9 children and God willing, continues that fatherly role with his 2 miscarried children. His good humour and kindness made him a delight and blessing to all those his life touched, in particular all his valued employees and customers at Sacwal Flooring. Gary treasured his many incredibly generous, loving, faith-filled and close-knit friends in Sarnia and in his native Cobourg. Among his many attributes, Gary excelled at all sports, poetry, book collecting and making up the most original, engaging and funny games with his children. He was a faithful and dedicated parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and an ardent promoter of the culture of life which he supported with his family, his example and his prayers. He was a strong man because he knew the source of it: “I can do all things in Him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13) Visitation will be held at the McKenzie Blundy Funeral Home, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with vigil prayers offered at 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 566 Rosedale Avenue, Sarnia on Thursday, March 31st. at 11:00 a.m. Celebrated by Fr.
