SOSSI - Vittorio - With his family by his side at Bluewater Health, Vittorio Sossi died on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the age of 95. Beloved son of the late Caterina & Giorgio Sossi. Dear brother of the late Carlo & his wife Eva Sossi. Loving uncle of Monica Gardiner, Kitchener, Carolyn Sossi-Grant & her husband Crosley, Mississauga, the late Cynthia Sossi, Gina McMahon, Sarnia, Carlo Jr., Hamilton, Dino Sossi, New York City and Paula Sossi, Stirling. Also survived by his great-nieces and nephews; Victoria, Sam, Amanda (Ashton), Tyler, Garnet & great-great niece Cheyenne & nephew Ashton Jr. Vittorio immigrated to Sarnia from Italy in the 1960s and was a beloved barber for over 45 years. He became a proud Canadian but his heart was always with his dear family back home. Vittorio was most at peace styling hair and proud that many of his dear customers became lifelong friends who visited him long after he reluctantly put down his scissors due to age. He was also a talented painter and illustrator who won many awards. Vittorio possessed a keen love of art, history, & politics, was a charming storyteller, and loved making people laugh. He dedicated his life and love to his family, acted more like a father than an uncle, and enjoyed spending time with his relatives despite the distance. Vittorio will be dearly missed, never forgotten, and a kind reminder to his immediate family of people who left us much too soon like his brother Carlo and Eva. We love you Uncle. Thanks for helping us for so long and always reminding us of our strong roots as well as sweeter, gentler, and simpler times. Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Friday immediately following visitation, officiated by Fr. Festus Komolafe. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
