With heavy hearts, Paula and I extend our love, thoughts and prayers to Ellen, Michael, Kevin, Dennis, my little Lizzie, spouses, kids and all of the extended family.
We will miss Dr. John's calming personality and smile. He unknowingly provided comfort and strength to many on a personal level. A fine gentleman, friend and neighbour.
I think back to the late 70's when "Dr. Murph" would drive his treasured mustang ever so slowly down Andover lane. All of us admired that car and we just hoped to see him punch the gas pedal, just once! It never happened when I was watching. It is still so vivid in my mind, it brings on a big smile and always will.
Love to all.

So sad to hear of Dr Murphys passing. I worked with him for many years in Sarnia. He was such a lovely man. He went about his work with quiet dignity. He was one of the smartest men I ever knew, able to quote the most current research and statistics for anything you asked him about. I am sure it will be a comfort to his family to know how important he was to so many people, and how much he was loved and will be missed by all.

Farewell to a very well respected physician, Dr. John Murphy. His days here were the days of some very special medical staff, that were also part of the hospital team, and made hospital rounds before heading to the office. They don't, make them like that anymore. Carrothers Clinic was also a very solid, and happening place. I am very proud to have been part of this era (Dr. Cyril Partington - Lab, Arthur Hewig - Administration, and Head Nurse, then Mary Jamieson), and to have worked at Sarnia General Hospital during the some of its best years. RIP Dr. John in knowing that you gave your best to your family, your medical practice, your social life, and sporting interests. My sincere condolences to your family during this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Murphy as a colleague from 1984 until he retired. He was a superb physician, extremely dedicated and a real gentleman. I always thought of him as a "doctor's doctor". It was a privilege to have known him.

With deepest sympathy the Murphy family is in our thoughts at this time. It's the cherished memories that bring comfort and we have so many fond memories from our visits to the Murphy beach house. As a kid I remember Dr Murphy driving me home in his sporty convertible, I remember him lurking about late at night often with a beer in hand but sleeping in the next day, and eating lamb with mint jelly for the first time and Dr Murphy convincing me to try it, and of course Dr. Murphy walking on his hands on his 50th birthday. My kids refer to him as Grandpa Murphy and he didn't seem to mind the hustle and bustle of kids and pets running around the house hold during our visits when the Levesque family came to town. Dr. Murphy was a patient, soft spoken, intelligent man respected by the medical community here in Sarnia. Through the years of being a nurse and coming from a family of nurses I have only heard positive, respectful feedback regarding his wonderful care he has given to our community. He will be missed and never forgotten........the Schenk family
