I've taken a few days to think of what to say but am still at a loss for words. Your dad (and mum) were the most gracious and classy people I've ever met. So many fond memories of the years, holidays and dinners at your home. I still laugh when I 'hear' your dad call me "Carl".

We were very saddened to hear about Mr. Pursell. It has been our pleasure to have Bill and his visiting family as our neighbours for the last fifteen years. He was never too busy for a chat, and it was always enjoyable. Over the years and many conversations, we got to know and admire this intelligent, interesting and kind gentleman.We will miss him. Hi Pursell family,
I haven't met most of you, but I'm a friend of Jamie's and I've heard a lot about his grandpa from him. Bill sounded like an absolute legend. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but I loved hearing about the spirit and voracity with which he lived. What an impressive human and a seriously inspiring example! The world lost one of its best. I'll be thinking of you all and sending lots of love your way.

It is with regret that I read about the passing of my former Polymer Corporation (Polysar) colleague and friend, Bill Pursell, with whom I shared many experiences and working hours. He had responsibility for the marketing and sales function during my tenure being responsible for Sarnia's manufacturing facilities. I enjoyed participating with the various activities in which he and I took part. He was a man of integrity and one whose word could be trusted - a professional in all aspects of what that word means.
I will miss my periodic conversations with him at the golf and curling club's down stairs bar. The conversations were always warm and meaningful. Being on the same 'wave length' helped!
My most sincere condolences to his family for their loss. It is a great one!

Terry and Gord and to your entire family. I just re read the absolutely beautiful words your family wrote three times now and each time I have teared up. but with happy tears. I never met Bill but through your words, I feel like I have known him through all his wonderful life. What I do know is that I know Terry. And I can clearly now see where some of your incredible character, personality and positive outlook comes from. I'll bet if we met all the Pursells in one room, we'd see a bit of Bill in all of you. I hope the grandchildren, who he clearly adored, live on through his memories and try to emulate the goodness and kindness that he clearly shared with everyone. He has proven that you can be fiercely Canadian and still enjoy your own traditions of the place you were born. He also proves that 'life' has no age! 'Living' has no age and he clearly did it right to the end. But it is not the end... what a wonderfully large family he and your mother left here and I'm sure his hope is that you all celebrate his life by celebrating your own in love and kindness. I wish you all peace. When someone is around for as long as your father was...it certainly makes the heart sink a bit more not to have them around but I am certain you will all be living your lives through his memory....to help ease the void. Bill Pursell was indeed a legend. He was smart, kind, compassionate and full of joy.
Just a few weeks ago, he was sleeping on the front patio. When he heard our car pull up, he looked over and gave me a big smile. “It’s so good to see you.” And he meant it. I knew he was always happy to visit with me, and he took real interest in my life and in the life of my family. He often asked about my children and my parents.
Of course, he could get peeved too; I remember his voice raised on occasion: “Coooookie,” he would yell up the stairs, and I knew we had done something wrong. Fortunately, the smiles were quick to return.
Bill was also quick to share a meal that he had cooked, and his cheese bread and soups were always delicious. When I open my last bottle of Pursell marmalade, I will raise a toast, properly toasted brown, in his honour.
I couldn’t discuss sports with Bill, but it was great talking politics and current events. At 88, he was still abreast of all the news that mattered.
I will miss him greatly.

To Ian and the Pursell clan,
We are very saddened to hear of Bill's passing. Bill always welcomed us as family, as he did to everyone he met. His keen intellect and strong spirit were admirable qualities that we have always respected. His love of family was unmatched and he always spoke with pride about all of you. Being able to stay in his beloved Lakeshore provided a true comfort to him. He'll be missed by many.

My love to the Pursell clan on such a sad occasion. Mr. Pursell was a wonderful man who shared such a generous laugh and smile with all who met him. He was always an amazing person, but my awe only grew as he aged and took up more sports, not fewer! I will miss his smile, his wave, and his rich voice.
