Additional Obit Info
Surrounded by his loving family at St. Joseph's Hospice, Roy Johnson peacefully passed on July, 4, 2017 at the age of 82. Roy was loved and cherished by so many, especially his grand children Josie and Will. Roy Johnson, gentleman, tradesman, jokester, trusted friend, outdoorsman, sports nut; he was the epitome of a Renaissance man. He had many passions, the Boston Bruins, the Sarnia Sting, playing hockey with the Point Edward Seniors until the young age of 80, canoeing and back packing in Algonquin Park, biking to the bridge and working in his garage. Roy was a respected member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local 539. But he was a jack of all trades. He was commonly referred to as MacGyver because he could build anything out of nothing. Following his retirement he kindly used his skill set to help friends and family with endless jobs. Roy was a proud man, who worked hard, never taking short cuts. He could not understand why he should pay someone for something that he could do. Roy was stubborn and was never afraid to speak his mind. He was also brave, and to the close circle of whom he trusted, he was loyal and generous. Roy Johnson, truly the last of the Mohicans, will be missed immensely! Cremation has taken place and at Roy's request there will be no visitation or service. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a donation to St. Joseph's Hospice, 475 N. Christina St. N., Sarnia, N7T 5W3. A heartfelt thanks to all who made Roy's final days dignified and peaceful. This includes all of the volunteers and nurses at the hospice as well as Dr. Amanda Rosenbloom and Dr. Maddison. Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia. Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
