My deepest sympathy to John's family on his recent passing. As a St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog volunteer, my dog Lexi and I visited with John often and came to love and enjoy him as much as he loved and enjoyed Lexi.
Never, never will I hear those words "oh boy" and not immediately be reminded of John. We often had conversations where his part of the talk was only those words, although we tried for others on occasion, however I never tired of him. His smile and gentle touch when he reached to hold my hand or to pet Lexi are forever in my memory.
My condolences.

Dear Bryan, Kay, Shelley & Franco,
My deepest condolences to you and your entire family. I'm grateful to have this space to reach out to you. In my younger years, whenever I would visit Bryan at the family home, John always greeted me warmly, and made me feel welcome. I know he got a kick out of the fact that I was my father's son, given the fact that they grew up together in the same neighbourhood. I have a great memory during high school of us sitting around the kitchen table playing cards—or was it a board game?—and there were a lot of laughs, I remember.
I believe John will continue to live on through our collective memories of him. My sympathies and good vibes are with you through this time. May John rest in peace.

Dearest Shelley, Franco Elizabeth, Alexandra, John Anthony and Gabrielle
We feel so blessed that we had the pleasure of having known John Williams. We look back on the times we would be visiting you in Sarnia and there was such fun and merriment when Mr. Williams would happen to be there. John fondly remembers putting together the slide show for Mr. Williams's retirement.
The measure of a man is exemplified by his family. His devotion to God and offers us a resplendent example of the gratitude of life. What a delightful soul whose memory will be truly cherished.
Most Sincerely,
John Sanna, Anna Stella Mangone, Sam Mangone, William and Gabriel.

To Kay, Shelley, Bryan and John's entire family, please accept my condolences. I am sorry for your loss.
John to me was one of those rare adults who loomed large in my young life. He was a passionate person who seemed incapable of pretense. Bombastic, cajoling, sometimes outrageous, when John showed up at our door, there was always a wondrous life energy that came along with him. My close relationship with Bryan brought me to your home often, going swimming, eating Kays delicious Italian cooking, and simply sharing in the day to day of your family life. For me, this was the greatest blessing because it allowed me to be exposed to John in quieter moments. There were many times in my teen years when I would wander across the parking lot from our home and knock on your door, always to be welcomed in. My fondest memories of John were sitting in the basement on Athlone and talking about meaningful things. Whether the topics were about personal challenges, life joys, or issues of the day, his passion and honesty were always right there on the table. He was earnest and caring, and that is what I loved most about him.
Thank you John for all that that you were for me and the Mitro family. May you rest in peace.

Dear Kay & Family:
Our sincere condolences following your recent loss. We will always remember John's contagious smile and his love for his church and community. I will especially remember John as the day captain at the Capuchin Retreat Center, in Washington, MI. He guided me (and many others) on our spiritual journey and was instrumental in my personal conversion and love for the faith.
Unfortunately, Yvette and I are our of town next week and will be unable to attend the funeral. However, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Dear Kay and family,
" Death is extinguishing the lamp because the dawn has come." (Tagore)
It was good speaking with you this afternoon and offering my sympathy and assurance of prayers upon the death of John. St. Paul's words, " I have fought the good fight, I have run the race, I have kept the faith and now I go to collect the crown of righteousness," definitely identifies John as the faithful servant who shared in the sufferings of Christ. May he now enjoy the promised reward.
Although unable to be with you for the funeral please know that I will celebrate Mass this weekend for the repose of his soul and for you and the intentions of your family.
I have many fond memories of my years at St. Benedict's beginning as an associate in '75 , when I first met the Williams family and again returning as pastor for 11 years. He will not be forgotten!
Prayers and God's peace,
Fr. RicK
