Obituary of Werner Richard Gunter Penkwitz

PENKWITZ, Werner "Richard:" Gunter - With his family by his side at Bluewater Health, W. Richard Penkwitz died on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the age of 78. Loving father of Julie Anne Young & her husband Mike and Michael Richard Penkwitz, Sarnia. Cherished grandfather of Richard Young, Sarah Gibb (Brian), Stephanie Young and William Penkwitz & his sister Sabrina Perry, all of Sarnia. Proud great-grandfather of Hannah Gibb, Sarnia. Dear second father to Jamie and Randy Fitzpatrick. Brother of Doris Richter and Helga Poewe, Berlin. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Berlin. Predeceased by his parents Helene Hein & Richard Penkwitz and sisters Lucie Lux and Erika Wischnewski. Richard came to Canada at the young age of 18. He was the owner of Richard's Masonry Ltd. and was an accomplished bricklayer. Richard's passion was his family and time spent with them. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Afton Park where Richard resided. A visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held immediately following visitation in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel, at 12:00 p.m. Cremation will follow with private interment at a later date.
