Obituary of Barry Holt

Holt, George Barry - Peacefully in his sleep at Bluewater Health on Sunday, November 5, 2017, with his wife Mary (Hart) at his side. Born in Ottawa on January 23, 1932, resident of Sarnia from 1975. Father of David (Lorraine), Susan, Douglas (Denise), and Donald (Gisele). Grandfather of Quinn (Vanessa), Kristin (Tim), Jordan (Victoria), Lynne (Andrew), Bryan, Evan, Jessica (Chris), Andrew, Paul, Chantal, and Leah. Great-grandfather of Alexander, Sophie, Ellie, Emma, Adeline, Austin and Zachary George (Nov 6th). Beloved brother to David, Mary (Bob) and Richard (Sharron). Predeceased by his father Percival Holt, birth mother Marion Holt (MacFaul), step-mother Gertrude Holt (Maloney) and older brother Ronald and his wife Patricia. Uncle and great uncle to many Holts and Harts. Barry graduated from RMC in 1954 and Queens in 1956, earning his Chemical Engineering degree. He worked for DuPont in Maitland, Ajax and Whitby before moving to Sarnia to work for Petrosar. Barry enjoyed singing in the church choir at Trinity Anglican church and with the Bluewater Chordsmen. An active person for most of his life, he enjoyed swimming, skating, skiing and golf. Barry spent many hours playing card games with family, and was frequently victorious! Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at Trinity Anglican Church, 1194 Murphy Rd., Sarnia on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. The memorial service will immediately follow in the church at 2:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to charity of your choice.
