My name is Sandra Wilson Wallis. Sam was my tutor at the University of Western Ontario a long time ago for French class. I reconnected with him here in Sarnia a few years ago. My son Darryl Wallis went to school with one of your children. I am so sorry he died. I didn't know he was sick. He was a very nice man. I will miss him.

I remember Monsieur K. as a truly lovely human being. He was my French teacher for two years back on Bright Street. I even had the pleasure of babysitting his boys a few times. He and his wife were so kind to me and reassuring. Their boys at the time were very young and LIVELY, and I was starting to worry how things would go that first evening. I need not have worried. They were delightful young lads who gave me no trouble whatsoever. Once they were asleep, I was allowed to listen to Mr. K's record albums. My favorite became a French accordion album. I am in my 50s now and I have just started playing the accordion. I shall dedicate my practice of La Foule to his memory. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family.

My deepest condolences. Mr Karayacoubian was one of my favourite teachers at St Pat's. He was so warm and with a great dry sense of humour. I remember his patience and ability to handle and de-escalate the ridiculous behaviour that happens in a French high school class! I was incredibly sorry to hear of his passing. He was a good man. A great human being.

Inspiring, funny, challenging, fun, encouraging! What an amazing teacher and man! Mr. Karayacoubian was the reason I studied French throughout my high school career. He was always good for a laugh, often at his own expense. He was a teacher you wanted to work hard for, to make him proud. I was so saddened to read of his passing. He will live on through his amazing children. Sending my sincere condolences to Mr. Karayacoubian's family.

Lise Grondin

I send my condolences to the family of Mr. Karayacoubian. I was a student in his French classes at St. Christopher Secondary School and am so thankful for the self-confidence, awareness of the book Le Petit Prince, and all of the knowledge that I gained from him. Being his student was such a joy. What a fantastic teacher he was.

My heartfelt condolences to your family - Mr Karayacoubian was my most cherished teacher at St. Chris from 2000-2004. He always went out of his way to make me smile at a time in my life when I was feeling pretty isolated. Mr. Karayacoubian was an incredible teacher - funny, smart, and always looking for ways to engage his students as individuals and what would work for them. At a time when I was struggling, he insisted on only giving me verbal tests to ease my stress and to coach me through. He also went out of his way to talk to my parents to make sure I was okay. I'll always remember him as my spunky, funny, and truly loving favourite high school teacher.
