Obituary of Brian Hertle
Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, after a Christmas Eve filled with the love, laughter and the remembrance of his loving family. It was in the early morning of December 25, 2018, Brian Hertle age 61, of Sarnia, gave his family and friends his last, and most amazing gift. The gift of his eternal rest and peace. It was “time. Time to come home” to the loved ones who had pre-deceased him. Brian was born on April 23, 1957, in Montreal, Quebec, to Beverly and Winnifred Hertle (pre-deceased). He was the much loved, baby brother to his sister, Edith (Dave) Wells (pre-deceased) and his brother, Warren (Linda) Hertle. Brian will never be forgotten by his “precious” wife, Lyn Hertle, his daughters and sons-in-law: Kristin MacKenzie-Hertle (Kevin), Shannon Hertle-Perron (Paul), step-children: Will Bonville (Devon) and Melissa Bonville (Cory Coulter). “No regrets kids. Be kind to one another.” Brian was an amazing and fun-loving “Papa”. He leaves behind a fond legacy and memories for his grandchildren, Courtney (sweet pea) Kettle and Alex (peanut) Perron. Prior to his passing, Brian was so happy that he was able to meet his newborn, 3rd grandchild, Daniel Brian (little bean) Coulter. Brian will also be remembered as a “kick butt” and fun uncle to his nieces. Brian was pre-deceased by his beloved nephew, Kenneth Lemieux. Thank you Kenny for being there to welcome him “home.” Brian was a dedicated and conscientious employee at Union Carbide/Nova Chemicals for over 40 years. “Herk” was a respected and stand-up friend to those who were lucky enough to be graced with his friendship. A more honourable man will never be found. He enjoyed spending summers with his Orchardview family, cooking, and giving a hand with whatever needed to be done to help someone in need. Many will remember his unselfish generosity. Our family cannot express enough our fond and loving thanks to Dr. Ghate, Dr. Lilly, and the amazing staff at Bluewater Health (Palliative unit), and St. Joseph’s Hospice. You are all truly amazing people. The “candy man” and I are eternally grateful to you. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Friday January 4, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Celebration of Brian’s life will be held in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel on Saturday, January 5th at 3:00 p.m. Private family interment at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to St. Josephs’ Hospice, 475 Christina St. N., Sarnia, N7T 5W3.
