We were sorry to hear of Brad's passing. He was our neighbor for the last few years. Unfortunately I never had the privilege of knowing him but Alan did. I would see him walking Carmen everyday. He asked Alan if he could cut the grass berween our mobile home and his. He said he didn't have anything to do.

Brad was such a gentleman and a gentle man. When I lived at the same mobile home park as he did, I would walk my 2 dogs with him and his beloved dog Carmen. He helped quite a few of his neighbours at Green Haven, by mowing lawns and general yard work. He will be missed.

Brad was my mother's (Betty McCormick) next door neigbour and friend at Greenhaven Estates since he moved there years ago. Her previous neighbor had been a strange man, so mum was a bit dubious about another man moving in....but Brad was the exact opposite. He was a quiet, gentle, caring man, and they became friends. Mum always had treats for his dog Carmen, and this was the beginning of their friendship. Over the years, Brad kept a careful eye on mum for us...watching to ensure her kitchen light was on early every morning (as both were early risers), and as her mobility issues increased; he started cutting her grass, putting her garbage out for her weekly, and picking up her mail as well.
He would invite her over for a BBQ often in the summer, and they would sit on his front deck in the shade, and chat away. Mum liked to surprise him with homemade baked goods, as well as bags of popcorn, that she knew both he and Carmen enjoyed.
On my yearly trips home to stay with mum, I had the pleasure of getting to know this wonderful man as well; and I''ve enjoyed his chili dogs and hamburgers on his deck with mum too. My siblings and I always said that mum was so lucky to have him next door....and she readily agreed.
Mum often said " we should all be like Brad....grateful for each day we have, and greet it with a smile". Brad was an inspiration, and I am writing this tribute for my mother, who grew to care for him very much....and for myself ( Brenda), and my siblings...Jim, Mary and John, who will all miss this amazing man. Thank you Brad for reminding us that life is precious...and to stop complaining and grumbling about little things....and to live with a grateful heart daily.

Brad..I am at a complete loss. I cannot believe I will never see your beautiful face again. I remember the first day we met. I was moving into Green Haven, and there you came along with Miss Carmen. You introduced yourself as I did. Then you asked me if I had any pets. I said no, so you said “ you don’t have a dog”? To which I replied no, so you then asked if I had a cat, to which I replied no. Then you asked me “ what do you have”? I told you I had plants. The look on your face was priceless, And with that, you walked away with Miss Carmen in tow, shaking your head. From that day forward we became fast friends. I loved you buddy. We went on long hikes together, you drove me to London when I had surgery and patiently waited to drive me home. You cut my lawn, shoveled my snow and took care of my car when I was away for the winter. And you wouldn’t take any money for all that you did for me. So, the only way I could ever pay you back was to cook for you . And I loved doing it every minute of every day because you’ so appreciated it. Do you remember coming to the second door of my mobile home, I called at the take out window, because that’s where all the food I made for you was waiting for you . And you absolutely loved my rice pudding. We sat many a time on your deck on those rocking chairs just talking about life in and of itself . You are a miracle man , and for all you went through in life you had the most beautiful disposition . You fought a hard fight buddy , and I will miss you more than you’ll ever know . You have a piece of my heart Brad, keep it close ok. I know that when I get back home at the end of April there will be a sign and I know you’ll be looking for me. I’ll be there waiting. I am honored to have been your friend.

Hey big brother, did you know that you are truly one of the most inspirational people to have crossed my path during my lifetime? You taught me so much about being thankful for those that I have and not what i have or haven't got. Your family and friends are all much better people to have shared time with you. You from an early age had the ability to keep us rolling in laughter, ( I think that's why there are more pictures of you than there are the rest of us).
Dude, I wish I had a quarter of the courage that you did, your determination to live has left me awestruck. Your legacy will continue to encourage people with your example of tenacity (or sheer stubbornness) and willpower.
I am so happy that you got to "Go home" on your own terms and with bravery and acceptance. I will miss our texts, workouts and meeting you for coffee. Until we meet again, I love you and respect you more than you will ever know.
