Obituary of Elsie Crosley
CROSLEY, Elsie – Peacefully closed her eyes for the last time on earth on Thursday, June 20, 2019 and opened them to see the Lord welcoming her into his arms. Elsie Crosley, just short of her 95th birthday, died at Bluewater Health. Beloved wife of the late Adam Crosley (20ll). Loving mother of Wayne Crosley and Corinne Crosley, Sarnia. Cherished grandmother of Holly Distillio & her husband Larry, Toronto and great-grandmother of Audrey Rose & Quinn Distillio. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She will finally join her parents and 9 brothers & sisters who have been patiently waiting to welcome her into heaven. Elsie was born in Regina, Saskatchewan where she worked for the CNR before coming to Sarnia in 1950. In 1976 she ran a self-serve station until 1986. A devout Catholic, she also worked at the rectory of St. Peter’s Church in housekeeping for many years. She was a past president of the CWL for a number of years and member of the St. Peter’s Choir. Long time parishioner at Sacred Heart Church where she attended services every Sunday with her son by her side. Elsie was a kind and giving person. She loved to spend time at the Marshall Gowland Senior Outreach, where she enjoyed the camaraderie, arts & crafts and taking home prizes at bingo. Focusing on her health, Elsie was a member for a few years at the Pinsonneault Health Studio and even took up golf for a while. She never got tired of her drives down the river, lunches & dinners with Wayne. Elsie lived in the same house for almost 70 years, where she tended to her beautiful gardens with an abundance of flowers. Through everything, Elsie’s passion was her family and friends and her loyalty to them never wavered. She will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at Bluewater Health who treated mom like family and gave her comfort and dignity in her final journey and also would like to thank the staff, the home care workers from CCAC who took care of mom at home with great compassion and volunteers of the Marshall Gowland Manor Outreach for giving mom the opportunity to be away from her home for activities which she thoroughly enjoyed. Visitation at McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St. Sarnia on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 10 a.m. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
