Obituary of Jeanne Isobel Houston
HOUSTON, Jeanne Isobel
Jeanne Houston died on Sunday July 28, 2019, late into her 99th year. Predeceased by her husband, John (Jack) Houston, and survived by her daughter Susan Houston, son-in-law Brian Rea, and granddaughter Samantha Rea. She was predeceased by her parents Warren and Mabel Balls and siblings Keith (Jean) Balls and Audrey (Cam) Marshman. Jeanne was born in Petrolia when oil jiggers were common in backyards. She possessed a piercing intellect, evident to anyone meeting her. As a child of the Depression, she was a keen saver, collector of many things, and always generous to those in need. She worked with Jack in their construction business, building many of Sarnia’s schools and churches as the city grew. Winters spent curling at the Sarnia G&CC, summers spent at the Sarnia Yacht Club, she was a member of the I.O.D.E., and “the Bridge Club”. Always impeccably turned out, she was a gracious host to many; a woman of her time. The family would like to express their thanks to the thoughtful and caring staff of Twin Lakes Terrace, for her stay this past year. Cremation has taken place. A casual reception will be held in tribute to Jeanne at the Sarnia Yacht Club on Monday, August 5, 2019, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Inn of the Good Shepherd or the charity of your choice. Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
