The Lunns were a big part of the Blackwell community of our youth in the late 50s and through the 60s. We kids were lucky to have each other and freedom to roam our neighbourhood .
I remember all the kids playing together in the "valley" behind the Lunn's home, football in their front yard and fun times on the lake.
We were often called home near dark by a bell Mrs Lunn rang for the kids, marking the end of a long play day.
She was always so happy and kind - truly the Mom of all us kids. We were graced with her joy. She will be missed.

Iona was a volunteer in my classroom at Sacred Heart School for 11 years. Every time she was working with a child Iona would tell that child how good they were and how smart they were. And every time she said that you could see the child smile at Iona and then want to try that much harder just to please her. I have vivid memories of Iona at 80 something years old being in the gym with a classes of 8 year olds teaching them how to dance the Charleston!!! I know that Iona is now dancing with little angels in heaven!! And telling the little angels how good and how smart they are!!

June and the Lunn family,
Sincerest condolences on the loss of your wonderful mother. When I started teaching she was a dedicated volunteer at St. Michael's School. It was so nice to see her enjoying the children in the adjacent classroom to mine. The children all loved her so much and she loved them. I don't ever remember seeing her without a big smile on her lovely face. Pure joy.

Iona was absolutely inspirational at her 99th birthday party, as plucky and keenly engaged as ever, (even with a few stories that needed “slight adjustment” by Connie.)
I left feeling that she “could have danced all night”, which I’m sure is what she is doing now, once again.
She was truly a treasure of a bird, and such a kind little neighbourhood Mummy to all the kids 5-6 decades ago when I was a tiny girl. We shared unfenced enormous backyards and it was all for one and one for all.
