Obituary of Pauline Betty Allen
ALLEN, Pauline Betty – Born October 6, 1927 in Windsor, Ontario, Pauline passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Beloved wife of the late James Allen (2014). Dear mother of Jane Allen, Calgary and Suzanne (Peter) Earnshaw, Toronto. Proud grandmother of Rebecca and John. Sister of Maxine Ainsworth (Larry), Petrolia and Douglas McGillivary (Carolyn), Kingsville. Loving aunt to her nieces, nephews and their families. Pauline was predeceased by her parents Stewart Ross and Edna Sinclair, step-father Angus McGillivary, brother Victor Ross and sisters-in-law, Nancie Allen and Mary Ross. Mom had many happy memories growing up on a farm near Florence, Ontario. A former school teacher, she led childrens’ choirs and found great pleasure in the choirs she sang in. Mom was also an accomplished pianist and played for pleasure and in a volunteer capacity. Mom had a vibrant personality, was keenly interested in people and had good insight into human nature. She loved yoga, bridge, golf, reading, politics, and history, and became very knowledgable about the history of our Sinclair, Ross and Allen ancestors. Mom and Dad loved their daily walks in Canatara Park which included great appreciation for the beauty of Lake Huron, the magnificent trees, and the rich bird life (especially cardinals, blue jays, robins, and the blue heron). Mom and Dad had an opportunity to travel the world and delighted in memories of these experiences. Mom was devoted to her two daughters and two grandchildren and we will miss her feisty and determined spirit. Special thanks to her dear life long friends at Central United Church, her many loving friends at Fairwinds Lodge, her supportive caregivers at Bluewater Health, and the wonderful doctors, nurses and support team at St. Joseph Hospice. A memorial service will be held at a future date and will be announced. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the charity of your choice.
