Obituary of Sadie McPhee

McPHEE, Sadie Irene (nee Douglas) – Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice,  Sadie McPhee died on Monday, August 19, 2019.  Beloved wife of 53 years of the late Duncan McPhee (2004).  Loving mother of Allan McPhee, Sarnia and Paul McPhee & his wife Kim, Strathroy.  Cherished grandma of Ryan and Kyle. Dear sister of Orville Douglas & his wife Audrey, Kitchener, Helen Hammer, Wallenstein and Earle Douglas, Sarnia. Sister-in-law of Evelyn Edgar, Alvinston.   Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents William A. & Ella Douglas, her brother Lyle Douglas and sisters Isabelle Douglas and Anna Poppe.  Sadie was an employee of Canada Post in Lucan and retired as Post Master at Port Lambton.  Before going back to work she was active in the UCW and taught Sunday school and was currently a member of Dunlop United Church.  Sadie enjoyed reading, quilting and crocheting in her spare time.  The family would like to express their appreciation  for the compassion and care showed to Sadie and family by the staff and residents at Fairwinds Lodge, the Palliative Care Team, Dr. Dhar, Dr. Maddision, Lambton EMS, Bluewater Health and St. Joseph’s Hospice. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, Friday, August 23, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.  A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 12 p.m. in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel celebrated by Rev. Adam Kilner.  Private interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Sombra.  As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice, 475 N.
