Obituary of Christiaan Heesakkers
HEESAKKERS, Christiaan – Passed peacefully at Bluewater Health, CEE Site, Petrolia, Christiaan Heesakkers died on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Carolina “Leny” Heesakkers (2007). Cherished special friend of Corrie Vriens. Loving father of Adriaan & Gerrie, Henry & Donna, Johan and Allegonda Heesakkers & Paul Leishman all of Sarnia and Chris & Janine of Byron. Proud grandfather of Allan, Matthew, Krysta Jardine , Michelle McIntosh, Miranda and Steven Heesakkers, Philip Young, Jason and Paul Golian and Tristan and Coltrane Heesakkers. Great-grandfather of Quinn, Aubrey and Veya Young, Havvah, Larissa and Allanah, Christopher and Michael Heesakkers, Skylar and Parker MacIntosh, Mila Golian, Kira and Emma Golian. Dear brother of Sjaan van Breugel and brother-in-law Piet Verbakel & his wife Jeanne of Holland.Predeceased by granddaughter Madison Heesakkers, his parents Hendrikus and Allegonda Heesakkers, siblings Bertha Steenbakkers, Antonia van Heeswijk of Holland, Mary Vanderaa, Bill Verbakel and Betsy DeMan of Sarnia, Annie van den Hurk, Jo Verbakel, Jo van Breugel, Marian Martens, Mien Peters and her husband Cor all of Holland.. Born during the roaring 20's, he survived the Great Depression. He survived 4 years labouring for the Nazi's during WW11 as he was only 14 when they captured Holland and spent 2 years in hiding with the resistance. Served in the Dutch Army from 1946-1951. Relocated to Sarnia in 1952 with his wife Leny, to start their family. Played soccer for Imperial Soccer Club. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at The Gathering Place, 756 Maxwell St. Sarnia on Sunday, December 8, 2019 on what would have been his 94th birthday, 2:00 - 6:00p.m. with words of remembrance offered at 2:30 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, c/o 111 Granton Drive Unit 101, Shipping Dock, Richmond Hill ON, L4B 1L5 Attention- Cong Lenh.
