Obituary of Vincenzo Boccanfuso
BOCCANFUSO, Vincenzo – Vincenzo passed away at Bluewater Health on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of Annunziata (Pinelli). Dear father of George (Cathie), Domenico, Luigi (Ivana) and Joe (Jeanne). Loving nonno of Carmen, Meredith, Sara, Loren, Leah, Mateo, Paul, Anthony and Michael. Bisnonno of Rory. Brother of Concetta Esposito (late Michele), Giuseppe (Rosa), Giovanni (Luisa) and Maria Trani (Francesco). Brother-in-law of Teresa Mattera, Salvatore Pinelli, Maria Mazzella and Giuseppe Pinelli. Predeceased by parents Giorgio & Luisa Boccanfuso, sisters Filomena Fiore and Rosa DiMeglio, infant brother Luigi, father and mother-in-law Domenico and Filomena Pinelli and sister-in-law Anna Pinelli. Vincenzo emigrated from his native Italy in 1951 and landed in Halifax, Nova Scotia destined for Val-d’Or, Quebec to work in the gold mines. In 1952 he decided to join friends living in Sarnia and shortly after arriving began working in the freight sheds of Canada Steamship Lines in Point Edward. In 1973 he began working as a labourer with Local 1089 for Stearns Catalytic Enterprises with a steady placement at the Suncor refinery until retiring in 1993. Vincenzo loved the outdoors and in his spare time could typically be found working away in one of his two gardens. He proudly made wine yearly – sometimes with grapes he grew himself. He was a member of the Dante Club for over 50 years. Vincenzo attended Mass regularly and supported his parish.
