Obituary of Antonia Vani

VANI, Antonia – Peacefully with her daughters by her side, Antonia Vani died at Marshall Gowland Manor on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the age of 101.  Loving wife of the late Attilio Vani (1942) and Francesco Giuseppe (2000) of 54 years of marriage.  Loving mother of Filomena Muscedere (the late Rosato), Tullia Di Murro (Alessandro) and Lisa DiLegge (late Celeste).  Cherished grandmother of Mirella (Carlos) Pecino, Angela (Gino) Costabile, Teresa (Ozzie D’Alfonso) Rinaldi, Livio Di Murro, Lina (Eric) Dawson, Diana (James) Ayer, Daniel (AnnMarie) DiLegge, Laura (Giuseppe) Tucciarone and Marco (Heather) Di Murro.  Blessed with 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.  Dear sister of Pietro (late Maria) Vani.  Also survived by extended family in Italy and Michigan.  Predeceased by her parents Teresa & Emilio Vani, her angel in heaven, infant Anna Maria, her brother Pasquale (Carolina) Vani and sister Maria (Benedetto) Vani. 

 

Antonia had a passion since childhood for knitting and embroidery that continued through her life.  She was an amazing cook and baker. Antonia enjoyed spending time in her vegetable and rose gardens. Her favorite pastime was playing cards (Scopa) with a cup of tea.  Antonia was a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 25 years.  Antonia loved to have people visit and would always say “Come again soon”.  She will be missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Marshall Gowland Manor for their compassionate care of Antonia.

 

Due to current COVID restrictions a private family visitation and service will be held.  Please note that masks/face coverings are mandatory and maximum visitors at one time and social distancing will be strictly enforced.  Entombment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 106 East St., Sarnia, N7T 7H9 or the Inn of the Good Shepherd, 115 John St., Sarnia, ON N7T 2R1.  Arrangements entrusted to McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (519-344-3131).
