Obituary of Kenneth Michael Hewitt

HEWITT, Kenneth Michael - Ken wrote. “Special thanks to my mother for setting me straight.  I worked at Bruce Nuclear Power for 22 years, Local 1592 and Local 128.  I had years of laughs from some of the most thoughtful members I had gotten to know.  So lucky to have met them throughout my life."

Sister, Jan, receives the Mother Hen Award (lifetime achievement).  Brother-in-law Paul…this guy looks after Mother Hen (unconditional lifetime achievement award).  I am survived by literally 1,000s of ducks on the St. Clair River, as well as 2 minks,  4-10 rabbits, 2 possums, 1 raccoon, 1 squirrel, 2 bald eagles, 1 coyote, several hawks, a peregrine falcon and 4 Canada geese.

Today the remaining 1 sister and 2 brothers say good-bye to the funniest guy we ever knew.  Ken suffered a lot, since his cancer (pancreatic) diagnosis in Dec. 2019.  Ken is survived by his sister Jan (Paul) Clark, Dartmouth, NS., brothers Dick (Joyce) in Windsor and Ted (aka Tedward) in Corunna.  Dog…Tika.  Ken is predeceased by his parents, John and Agnes Hewitt, sister Kathy and brothers Pat, Don, John and baby Joseph.  All members of the “Hagle Street Gang”.  All gone too soon.

Special thanks to Sandra for caring so much for Ken, and young Ava, the spark in Ken’s life.  Thanks to Dominic and Sam for the amazing fireworks.  Lastly, a very special thanks to nurses Willi Kirenko and Fiona Elders.  These ladies helped Ken leave this world on his terms, surrounded by his closest family and friends, with his Mother’s rosary in his hands.  Ken prayed a lot and thanks all those who prayed for him.  He died peacefully at home, sitting by the water while fireworks surrounded him as he celebrated his 62nd birthday on Thursday July 22, 2021.

His last text read…
“I’m outta here…have a good life”
