Wendy, Marg and family,
We were saddened to hear about Dick's passing. It’s clear from his obituary that he lived a full life filled with the love of family, friends and beloved pets. He had multiple careers, and helped countless people as a Pastor, including our mom, Pat. No matter how full and long the life of a loved one is, I know it’s still very painful to say goodbye to such a special husband, father, grandpa and friend. Our hearts and prayers are with you all.

Carole and I are deeply grateful to our Lord for the friendship and kindness over the years of the Rev. Dick Hebbourn. Dick has had a special place in our hearts during our time in Sarnia and we are blessed to be able to have been able to count him among our friends. Our prayers are with Marg and her family during this time of grief. Take some consolation in knowing that Dick's ministry has been important and enduring. You are surrounded by church family who love you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon Dick and grant him resurrection joy.

Some memories of Dick from John (nephew) and Pam Mack
John, as a small boy in London, UK remembers Dick and his pretty girlfriend, Margaret when they visited his parents house.
We remember the kindness of Dick and Margaret when we moved to Sarnia in 1967: D&M offered to have us stay in their home when, as newly-weds, we first moved there after John was offered a Job with Imperial Oil. Dick surprised us with tea in bed on the first morning. We remember picnics at Sauble Falls and The Pinery where D&M took pity on a lonely little pine tree which they decided to adopt and take home to live in their garden. Also, we remember looking after Kay and Glyn when D&M went out to parties. They often stayed out very late and obviously enjoyed their wine. We enjoyed many delicious Sunday dinners at their house and trying to reciprocate in our tiny apartment. In the summer, dinners were replaced with barbecues. Dick's favourite was sausages and a "barley sandwich".
In 1971, we moved away from Sarnia, eventually landing back on Vancouver Island. D&M visited the Island when they could to see us and Dick's sister, Winifred and her husband, Harold (John's Mom and Dad). Also, we visited Southern Ontario with our two boys (David and Christopher) Later we were very grateful to Dick for officiating at each of their weddings. We are also extremely grateful to Dick for flying out to help and officiate at Harold's funeral.
We remember having a holiday In Alberta in 2006 to help celebrate John's sister, Doreen and her husband, Cliffs' 25th wedding anniversary. After the party, we toured Alberta and saw "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" at the Rosebud Dinner Theatre. It was a huge hit with us and D&M.
Dick is John's Uncle but he is much more than that. He was also a great friend. We love him dearly and will always be grateful that he was a part of our lives. He was always generous, kind, and willing to give of himself.

Margaret and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. It is a time of unique tension, losing from our presence one who has mean so much, and yet relieved that he is no longer in distress and is at Home safely in the hands of the One who loves him even more than we do.
Dick was good friend and supporter to all who knew him. His faith and love for his Lord shone from his every pore. We are all the poorer for his absence, yet all the richer for his friendship, his example, and his humour! Keep smiling, Dick.
Well done, good and faithful servant!
(Rev) Peter Leonard

We will always remember Dick as a kind, caring, thoughtful and generous servant of the Lord, gifted in pastoral care and always thinking of others. He touched so many hearts and lives while here with us and he will be greatly missed. We offer our sincere sympathy to you Marg and to all your family, and we pray for God's comfort and peace to sustain you in your loss. How fitting that memorial donations are going toward the work of the Inn of the Good Shepherd, that reaches out to assist so many in need, just as Dick reached out to so many during his lifetime. Sending our love and keeping you in our prayers. p Martha and Darwin
