Dear Roger, Kathy, Patrick and Legault family, I have thought of Steve over the years and was shocked when I learned of his untimely death last night during one of my internet searches. Although it's been 40+ years, Steve made a positive impression on me. Although our paths went different ways, I still remember him fondly. As I am about to become a grandmother for the first time, I am reminded of how short life can be and that treasuring those we love is so important. I am so sorry for your loss and am sure thoughts of him will buoy you all during the hard times. May his memory be a blessing. Much love, Kathy Smithen

I just went to msg . Steve on Facebook and was shocked to read of his passing. Pete , Roger , Matt and Family. I am so very sorry for your loss. Steve and I were work partners for a few years at St Anne’s school, we had so many good times and lots of laughs. Steve always spoke highly of you Pete and all of his family. He was a kind man who enjoyed working with the kids . We had fun joking around and often played pranks on each other. Let you memories be of comfort to you in these difficult days ahead. Sincerely Carol Beatty Until we meet again my friend “ Rest In Peace”

Pete and my legault family Steve was such a wonderful guy. You know he came here for a visit, and my neighbours remember him well and liked him very much. Pete, you remember the meal with our neighbours while I was trying to translate for everyone. What a laugh and a giggle at all the mistakes I made. But its okay..they all think I am a crazy canadin anyway. I am so glad that you two got over here, and we were able to get there. Sending deep felt love and strength to you all. Yyou know how to contact me if you want to talk. Love you all Bec<

This is very sad to hear of Steve passing. I had the pleasure to work with Steve over many years. The best memories we’re doing the Christmas parties for CUPE staff children. Steve was always fun to be around and work with over the years. You will be missed Steve but never forgotten. God bless you and your family. Gabe and Anne Lacroix and Family.

Steve was the funniest, kindest, and most generous person I have ever known. He was always the life of the party. I will miss my cousin Steve very much. We had a lot of good times together. He showed up for most of the important moments in my life and I loved you for that. I send prayers, hugs, and lots of love to all of his family.

Dear Pete and Legault Family,
My prayers are with your family at this very sad time. I worked with Steve at St Joe’s Corunna and he was very dedicated to the children and staff in the school. Their health and safety were always his first priority. Always ready with a smile and friendly greeting made his presence in the school a rewarding place to work. He also shared his concerns and love for you, Pete, when you were experiencing some health difficulties. My most sincere condolences to you and your family.

Dear Pete and Legault Family,
I worked with Steve for many years as a CUPE Executive. I respected Steve's opinion on all CUPE matters as he was brilliant with interpretation of contracts and implementation. Steve fought for every individual that needed help. He loved all the children at every school that he worked. I was fortunate to attend out of town conferences and conventions with Steve and witnessed a brighter side that embraced love, life and laughter. Steve was so proud of his son and his grandchildren as he spoke of them often. I cherished the visit to the home of Steve and Pete as they welcomed their friends at their beautiful beach home. It is a tragedy that Steve has left us too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with Pete and Steve's family.
With love and in solidarity,
Suzanne Mills
