Jan was born in Echteld, Netherlands and married the love of his life Helena and immigrated to Canada in 1957 with baby Marja in tow. He arrived in Sarnia and started landscaping for clients. Jan’s trade was meat cutting in Holland, and so he was hired in the meat department at Walker Bros. on Mitton St. After a few years he was then hired at Dominion Stores (Eastland) where he eventually became the meat manager. He enjoyed his job and took pride in his work. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening, especially his roses and growing his own vegetables. He also loved family gatherings and social events. He was a well loved man and will be truly missed by his family. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff, and especially Jacquie Stuart, at Trillium Villa for their excellent care.
