Obituary of Valerie Ester Inglis
Valerie Inglis Lobato lived an incredible life from December 31, 1944, to July 22, 2022. She is survived by her husband, Jaime Lobato, and her three children, who made up her entire world: Ana (Shawn) Dailey, Rosa (Darryl) Devos, and Jimmy (Ile) Lobato. She was a loving Nana to 12 grandchildren and great grandchildren (Melisa (Will), Ben, Andrea, Derek, Alex, Jaime, Chema, Elsa, Riley, Remy, Liam, and Jack). Survived by her sister Geri (Fred) Inglis. Predeceased by her parents James and Muriel Inglis, her stepmother Mabel Harvey, and her brother George Inglis.
Valerie spent her childhood in Canada before moving to Mexico in 1965 where she went to university, married, and had 3 children before moving back to Canada in 1974. Upon her return, she began her career at Polysar in the library before she retired as a Systems Analyst from Lanxess in 2000. She was a strong, independent woman who was fluent in Spanish and was recently teaching herself Gaelic. She enjoyed camping with her girls, and later with her grandchildren in the motorhome. She was always researching and trying the newest gadgets, including being one of the first people on the insulin pump in the world. She enjoyed helping others and sharing her expertise and knowledge on a wide variety of random subjects. Anything that she didn’t know, she would be happy to find the answer for us. She enjoyed life and had a quirky, “punny” sense of humour, which she passed down to her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
