Obituary of Mark Edward John Plant
PLANT, Mark - With profound shock and sorrow, we acknowledge the tragic passing of Mark on Sunday, December 18, 2022. Dear husband of Barbara, Mark was the cherished father of Benjamin Jason (Jessica), Jonathan D, Susan (Tyson) and Andrea, (Grant). He was the proud grandfather of Owen and Aidan, Courtney and Jonathan R. Mark shared parents with his brothers Rex (Mary) and Simon (Robyn) and his sisters Sheila (Rob) and Margaret (Robert). He was predeceased his parents Richard and Hazel, and by his son Benjamin Jason.
After 27 years, Mark retired from his process operator duties at Nova Chemicals. Following, he enjoyed the First Friday Breakfasts with his coworkers, many he regarded as close friends.
Before health issues forced him to scale back his obligations, he was an active member of the Wilkesport Fire crew, serving as a Captain. Mark loved us. He was always ready, willing and able, to help pretty much any one, as well his friends and family, whenever asked, whatever the reason, without hesitation. We are lost without him. He was our Go To man, our Mr. Fixit, our Strong one, our Rock, our First call. As well as dropping everything to help others, Mark enjoyed fishing and cruising North America on his Goldwing motorcycle. But most of all, he was thrilled to visit with his new grandsons. As a result, the year 2022 was one of our happiest ever. We wish to thank the Wilkesport Fire department for their quick response, Lambton EMS for their excellent care, and Steve from the OPP. At Mark’s request, cremation has taken place. Donations in Mark’s name can be made to the Wilkesport Fire Department, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.
Please join us in a Celebration of Mark's Life on January 7, 2023 at the Wilkesport Community Center from 12-4 pm.
Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 519- 344-3131. Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
