Obituary of William Daniel McCart

McCART, William Daniel Jr - Bill McCart, born August 25, 1929, passed peacefully in his sleep at Trillium Villa, Sarnia on August 27, 2023.

Bill is the third child of Kathleen Patricia McCart (nee Stanley) and William Donnelly McCart. He is pre-deceased by his brother, John “Jack” Francis McCart and sister-in-law, Janet (nee Helliwell) McCart, by his sister, Mary Margaret Robb (nee McCart) and brother-in-law, Lorne Robb and by his sister, Ann Elizabeth Poulter (nee McCart) and brother-in-law, Theodore “Ted” Poulter.

Bill is survived by his nieces and nephews: Paul, Steven, John, Bill and Susan (children of Jack and Janet), Kathleen, Michael, John, David, James, Andrew and Martha (children of Mary and Lorne) and William (child of Ann and Ted). He is predeceased by his nephews Greg McCart and Michael Poulter. Steve, Ian and David Carey are remembered for their assistance to Bill in his later years.

Bill lived in Sarnia his entire life. He was a long-time employee of the law firm McCart McEachern. He loved sailing and his boat, Curlew. In his retirement years, he enjoyed working for Sarnia Shipping Agency, a stint as the Sarnia Harbourmaster, and transferring pilots to and from the ships at the Government Docks in Sarnia.
