Obituary of Martin Hohlheimer

HOHLHEIMER, Mathias – Martin died peacefully at Bluewater Health on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the age of 90 due to complications of a hip fracture.

Martin was born in Nurnberg Germany in 1933. He married his childhood sweetheart, Inge in 1953 and they immigrated to Ottawa Canada in 1957 to begin a new life with their young family. They later moved to Sarnia in 1997 to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Martin worked most of his life as an electrician and enjoyed woodworking, travelling, gardening, playing cards, spending time with family, and a good meal.

Martin was the beloved and devoted husband for 70 years to Inge (nee Hofmann). Dear father of the late Judy Brock, John Hohlheimer (Ann Marie), and Angela Smith (Rick). Loving grandfather of Dawn Varre (Mike), Beth Raus, the late Danniel Raus, Siobhan LeSarge (Jordan) and Robyn Smith. Great-grandfather of Paige Battaglia, Meah Raus, Allison Raus, Aiden Varre, and Alissa Varre. Brother of Paula Schroeder (late Fred).

His family wishes to thank the staff at Bluewater health, Especially those in the emergency, surgery and palliative wards, for their amazing care, sensitivity and kindness during this difficult time.

Cremation has taken place in keeping with Martin’s wishes no services will be held.  Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 519-344-3131.
