Obituary of Grace Mary Gauci

Grace Gauci of Sarnia, formerly of Windsor, Ontario passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 95 on Christmas Day in Sarnia. Grace was deeply loved by her children Louise (Ken) and Walter (Michelle – deceased) and grandchildren Shannon, Kenny, Adam (Magali), Mark (Amanda), and Brittany. She was also loved by her great grandchildren Tyler, Makenna, Suzanne and Milo. Grace is predeceased by her husband Frank, Parents Carmelo and Rosaria Attard, and siblings. Grace was born on November 23rd, 1928 in Gargur, Malta where she had many nieces and nephews that she loved and cherished. Grace immigrated to Canada in the early 1950’s after persevering through much hardship during World War 2 and seeking a better future for herself and her family. These experiences were what made Grace such a strong, loving, and caring person throughout her life. Grace would often make many traditional Maltese meals for her family, and through her a piece of her Maltese heritage was brought to Canada and will continue to live on in her memory. Grace was a devout Catholic and was involved in her local church throughout her life.

We would like to thank the staff of Trillium Villa in Sarnia, who lovingly took care of mom during her 6 year stay there. They went above and beyond helping her during the final stages of her life. The staff loved her and were loved by her.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 10 a.m. Interment Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Windsor.
