Obituary of Gene O'Connell

O’CONNELL, Eugene Kenneth – Gene passed away at Bluewater Health on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Beverley (Clark). Dear father of Marie O’Connell, Laura Mawhinney (Alan), and Jennifer O’Connell (David Hunter) all of Burlington. Loving grandfather of Erin and Luke Mawhinney and Brendan Hunter. Predeceased by parents Kenneth and Madonna O’Connell, sister Shirley Beard and brothers Paul, Bernard, Ronald and Michael O’Connell. Gene was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and was active with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He enjoyed travel, bowling and golfing with friends. Many family vacations were spent camping around Ontario and Florida. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Benedict’s Church on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 11 a.m.  Cremation to follow.
