John Ridland, a man whose journey began in North Shields, England in 1947, concluded his earthly adventure, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, love, and unwavering dedication. Born into humble beginnings in an area known as the Ridges, John possessed an innate intellect that would serve as his compass to navigate away from the chains of poverty.
In 1966, John sealed a lifelong bond with his beloved Eileen, embarking on a transformative journey together. With dreams in their hearts and determination in their souls, they bid farewell to their English roots, embracing a new chapter in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Here, John commenced his career as a polymer chemist, laying the foundation for a fruitful professional life and forging enduring friendships along the way. His tenure with Polysar afforded him the opportunity to traverse the globe, with fond memories of his adventures in Japan lingering in his tales.
However, fate dealt a cruel blow with Eileen's untimely passing in 1984, leaving John to grapple with profound loss and personal demons. Yet, amidst the shadows, he found solace in the unwavering support of his English and Canadian families, who stood as pillars of strength during his darkest hours. In particular, his dear friend Bill emerged as a guiding light, aiding him in conquering the adversities that plagued his path.
As a father to three children, John faced his share of challenges, but it was in the role of a grandfather that he truly flourished. Fondly known as "Poppa," he embraced this role with unparalleled devotion, readily forsaking all else to be by his grandchildren's side. From cheering on the sidelines of soccer and basketball games to witnessing their milestones of faith and healing, John's presence was a constant source of comfort and joy.
On May 14, 2024, John Ridland bid adieu to this world, leaving behind cherished memories and a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his physical presence may have departed, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he held dear. And as he reunites with his beloved Eileen in the realm beyond, may his soul find eternal peace and contentment, knowing that his legacy of love endures through the generations he leaves behind.
