Obituary of Burton Lyle Hodgson

HODGSON, Burton Lyle – Burt passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Monday, October 7, 2024 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Rose (2007). Much loved father of Kerry Hodgson, Jeff Hodgson and Corinne Hodgson-Whetham (Kurt). Loving papa of Bradley Hodgson (Lauren), Joel Hodgson (Kelsey), Samantha Daley (Mike) and Joshua Lajoie. Great-papa of Hunter and Harrison, Max and Reggie and Charlee and Beau. Brother-in-law of Roberta Bice (George) and nephew of Joyce Finlayson (late Harold). Also surviving are the “damned dogs”. Burt’s late wife Rose referred to him as “The Wind Beneath Her Wings”. Burt worked for 41 years as a technician at the Polysar Research Laboratory retiring in 1992. Burt and his late friend Charlie Birkinshaw coached women’s softball for many years. He loved his weekly meetings with his fellow Polysar retirees at Tim Horton’s. Burt was a lifetime member of the Sarnia Lambton Sports Hall of Fame. He and Rose enjoyed traveling the world together. One of their highlights was seeing the Canadian Women’s Softball Team at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 and the Athens Olympics in 2004. Burt’s family would like to thank Dr. Kim, Dr. Lau, Bridget and Danielle from the VON palliative care team and Laura, Kaitlyn, April and Samantha from Bayshore Health for the wonderful care given to him.

Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held.
