Obituary of Fay Cunningham
CUNNINGHAM (Loomis), Mary “Fay”- Fay died surrounded by family at Lambton Meadowview Villa on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the age of 90. Mom was always proud of her country roots. Born in Sylvan, Ontario in 1934 she and her sister Molly were raised by their grandparents, as their mother died in childbirth. Her memories of growing up on the farm and her one room schoolhouse were always so vivid and happy. She came to Sarnia after high school and worked in chemical valley until she met dad. Jack Cunningham who was unfortunately “catholic". Her family were very upset to the point of asking her to leave their home. Mom eventually reconciled with family, converted and married the catholic. As their children being raised by a devout catholic and a convert, there would be no excuses for ever leaning outside the church doctrine growing up. They raised 5 children, Paddy Cunningham (Peter Schauteet), Chris, Beckie (Bob Eddy), Jean “Dody” Ive (Bill), John (Mary-Ann) with 11 grandchildren Samuel (Adrienne), Matthew (May-lee), Jack (Jasmyne), Brittany, Josh (Tonia), Mallory (Dave), Cassie (Joe), Tayla (Karl), Andrew, Jeremy and Michael, Bazil and Danica. Great-grandmother of Charlie, Oliver, Mary Grace, Lena, Izzy, Jove, Ashley, Louie and Gia. Predeceased by her husband Jack (2014). She is survived by her cousin and most favourite human Michael Herrington and Charles and Anna Herrington, Murray Loomis, Sheila Davis, Debbie and Bob Stothers, Mike and Donna Cunningham and many friends including Judy Clatworthy and neighbours. We would like to offer a very heartfelt thank you to the 3rd floor staff at Lambton Meadowview in Petrolia, in particular Lynsey, Jessica, Michelle, Trisha and Elyssia who showed such compassion and care and made sure mom’s final days were as comfortable as possible. Thank You.
