Obituary of Hans Werner Tennenbaum
TENNENBAUM, Hans Werner - Hans passed away suddenly but peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on December 9th, 2024, at the age of 93 with his daughters by his side. Born in Hamburg Germany, Hans immigrated to Toronto where he met his wife, Hilda. Together they enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
Loving father to Ursula Bowman, Erica Tennenbaum and Yvonne Griffatong (Walter), grandfather to Nicole Foster (Sheldon) and Brett Bowman (Donna) and proud great grandfather to Alex, Jacob and Nicholas Bowman.
For 37 years, Hans dedicated his career to Dupont Inc, where he worked with engineers and draftsman as a licensed electrician. He made good friends and thoroughly enjoyed coaching and playing soccer for many years within the industrial league.
Hans a lifelong sports enthusiast grew up with a natural curiosity and zest for life that shaped his many interests. He had a deep love for the arts, spending countless evenings enjoying the melodies of classical music, the drama of theatre and the emotional grandeur of opera.
Despite being outnumbered by his three girls he embraced the role with humour, grace and a surprising knack for shopping. He enjoyed the traditional pedicure outings much more than black Friday shopping.
He owned the remote and there was no negotiation especially during playoffs whether it be hockey, soccer, tennis or the Olympics. Awake or asleep you could never get away with changing the channel. His love of sports was matched only by his dedication to his family.
For over 30 years, Hans and his wife, Hilda were active members of Dunlop United Church. His legacy of kindness and enthusiasm will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
His celebration of life will be held at the McKenzie Blundy Funeral Home, 431 Christina St. N, Sarnia on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, from 12-1:45pm. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 pm with interment to at Lakeview Cemetery.
