Obituary of Edward McDonald
With extreme sadness, we announce the passing of Edward James McDonald on Sunday, December 16 at the age of 71. Ed was a devoted brother to Sandra (Paul) Goodacre, Deb (Andy) MacLaren, and Catherine McDonald. He was a favourite uncle to Cory (Shelia) Goodacre, Greg (Deb) Goodacre, Lauren (Dale) Hucker, Kristen (Ben) Parnell, Tyler MacLaren and Katelyn Alexander. Ed was predeceased by his mother, Alice Vollmer (2009), his father Jim McDonald (2018), and his shining star, daughter Megan (2018). Ed grew up in Sarnia and spent all his free time playing sports. He was an avid baseball, football and hockey fan, with a passion for collecting sports memorabilia. He attended Sarnia Central Collegiate, worked in the sheet metal trade, becoming the BA for the Sheet Metal Union, before moving full time to live and work in the trade in Port Huron, Michigan. Upon returning to Sarnia eight years ago, Ed was often spotted around town with Megan, enjoying their special father/daughter rituals. Ed entertained his family and many friends with his keen sense of humour. He had a special place in his heart for Linda McDonald, and his dear neighbours Hap and Jodi Gottfried. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date. A Celebration of Life will be held at Stokes By The Bay on Sunday December 30, 2018, from 2pm to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Noelle’s Gift, P.O. Box 3334, Sarnia N7T 8G6 or Community Living Sarnia–Lambton, 551 Exmouth St, Sarnia, ON N7T 5P6 would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to The McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia. Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
